Each incoming student is matched with his/her own contact person. The contact person will try
to help the exchange student with every possible issue! The incoming student will receive
information about his/her CP in May from the NEO-in.
We're proud of our social program which has great these last few years. Every week we try to
arrange a get-together, possibly in a bar so we can have a couple of drinks together.
Every exchange period we go on a weekend trip to the country-side where we camp or stay in a
summer house. Examples of the places we have visited during these trips are the Westman
Islands, Landmannalaugar, Snæfellsnes and Skaftafell. We also take the students on one day
trip where we could take the Golden Circle which includes Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss
(the great waterfall) and Geysir (where the geysers are, which the international word for erupting
hot water springs is derived from), but it depends on the students' wishes. An International
evening is a fixed event in our exchange program (usually a Saturday night) where every
student and the people of IMSA prepare a traditional meal from their home country. Then
everyone gets to taste food (and beverages) from different countries, not to mention traditional
Icelandic delicacies! But that evening has always been really fun since we have been having
people from all over the world doing electives in Reykjavik.
Please note that the schedule you will get sent in the spring is a draft and dates may change
since we try to choose dates when most of the students can go and when people in the
committee or contact persons are available.
For the weekend trip, students will pay a moderate fee.
